The Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Kempten University of Applied Sciences is seeking to appoint a

Professor of Sensor Technology and Software Development Methods

commencing Winter Semester 2021 (starting date 1 September 2021), or thereafter, on remuneration grade W2 in accordance with Bavarian Remuneration Act.

We are seeking someone who would like to channel their expertise and professional experience into educating students. You will represent the cited field of teaching on the bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes run by the faculty.  

This position requires solid knowledge and years of professional practice in the fields of sensor technology and software development. Specialist knowledge in one or more of the following areas is desirable:

  • Sensor technology, data capture and data processing
      • Radar and LiDAR systems
      • Software development methods
      • Object-oriented programming
      • Driver assistance systems for autonomous transportation systems
      • Sustainable smart mobility solutions
      We will expect you to contribute to the subjects taught on the foundation courses in engineering. You will represent the cited field in teaching activities. In addition, we wish you to actively conduct research in the field of driver assistance systems and autonomous driving investigating “sustainable smart mobility solutions”. You will also contribute to creating new study options, including in digital format, and the transfer of technology and knowledge. Active involvement in academic self-administration and the professional development opportunities offered by the university, including in English, is explicitly desired.

      Appointment criteria:

      To be appointed as a professor at our university of applied sciences, you must fulfil the following criteria (article 7 para. 3 of the Bavarian Higher Education Employment Law):

      • University graduate;
      • Highly skilled academically, as generally attested to by a doctoral degree;
      • Educational aptitude, as demonstrated, inter alia, in the form of a sample taught class;
      • Excellent track record in applying or developing scientific findings and methods during no less than five years’ professional practice after graduating from university, of which at least three must have been spent outside academic institutions. In special cases, extra-academic professional experience can be accepted in the form of a minimum of five years spent focusing heavily on collaborative activities between academia and non-academic professional practice.

      To be eligible for civil servant status, a candidate must be under the age of 52; otherwise the appointment will be made as a salaried employee.

      This position is suitable for candidates with severe disability. Severely disabled applicants will be prioritised in the case of otherwise essentially equally suited, capable and technically adept candidates.
